something new everyday

there are things that i have never had happen to me with the girls. i have never been peed on, never had to take a child to the emergency room for stitches and i have never had to fish a phone out of the toilet.

thats right. matty was upstairs with sarah playing quietly in his room(or so we thought)but what he was really doing was dropping the cordless into the toilet.

so if anyone tried to call the house at all yesterday and there was no answer, you now know why. i am going out today to get a new phone, so we will be able to be in touch with people soon.

it wouldn't be so bad, except the phones weren't the greatest to begin with, and the other cordless battery never keeps a charge so it is broken too.

wow the things that come up with matty, things that i have never seen in almost 7 years of being a mom.

almost 2!

my little man is growing up!. his "birthday" won't be for another 2 years, but we have to celebrate is anyway, so this Monday, for all intensive purposes Matthew will be 2.

he has grown into the sweetest, most caring and loving boy i could ever ask for.
he has a smile that can light up the room, and a laugh that can change any mood. a hug and a kiss from him and all the world disappears.

i look at him and wonder how in the world i could have ever thought that i was finished after only 2.
in two years this little boy has changed our lives and made them into something we could never have imagined in a million years.

i hope that he continues to mature the same way he has, loving, compassionate, funny, and one heck of a cutie!

valentine's day

i love valentine's day. not for myself really, we tend to not make it a big deal around here for Jason and I. but i love it for the kids.

the girls are so excited to have their first valentine's day parties at school. haley is looking forward to it since today they baked cookies as a class and made their own little boxes to hold their valentines. something that she has never been able to do at school before.

sarah is also really excited for tomorrow since her class is having a party too. complete with cookies and valentines from all her new friends.

i remember when teh valentines were plain and were generic. this year we are giving out wizards of waverly place and mickey mouse clubhouse. can you guess who is giving out what?

and of course, our little tradition will continue. every year since we have had Haley we order a heart shaped pizza from BP. she thinks it is "so cute" and sarah is just now getting into it too. matty is just happy that there is pizza, he could care less about the shape.

now, even though we don't make a big deal, i do get pampered on valentines..... jason is planning on making a nice dinner from scratch complete with fresh bread and salad.

i hope

we caught Matty being very quiet this morning, and when we found him he was sitting on his potty and he had just peed. now he missed the potty a little and over shot but the idea was there and he was SOOOOOOOO proud. so were we!
this is the second time he has peed on the potty and he loves how we make such a big deal about it, hopefully he keeps it up.
its either he is ready or he likes the chocolate kisses he gets when he goes. or it could also be that he is embarrassed by the pink pull ups his daddy bought him by mistake. he might figure that peeing on the potty is better than wearing Dora on his bum.

either way, he's happy, the girls are happy, and if he keeps it up, mommy will be extra happy to have all the kids out of diapers and on the potty!!!!!

oops, i better go, i think he might have just gone again............well almost.
he pulled his pants down and peed in the bathroom, except it was on the floor.

one step at a time i guess!
